Welcome to the Women Leaders Forum

Our President's Message

Paula Tapia will serve as WLF President through May 2013. She has been a WLF Board Member since 2009, serving as Treasurer.

Dear WLF members,

I am humbled, proud and excited to serve as WLF’s President for the 2012/13
term.  A Board member for the past three years,  I am tremendously proud of all
that we have accomplished as we celebrate our 10-year anniversary.

Indian Wells City Councilmember  Mary T. Roche started WLF with a vision of
making this organization what it is today – an inviting forum for women leaders
working to make a difference in our community.  To date, we’ve awarded over
$150,000 in scholarships to local high school seniors and have elevated the
commitment to our Young Women Leaders Educational and Mentoring Program.

WLF also recognizes the importance of partnering with local organizations and we
are proud to continue our much needed scholarship matching program with
Pathways to Success.  In addition, WLF is proud to continue our partnership with
Eileen Fisher on El Paseo for our Spring Event – and  this year we look forward to the
mutual benefits of new partnerships with two great local organizations who serve
those in need: The Ophelia Project-Coachella Valley and FIND Food Bank

Staying true to our mission statement of developing, empowering, and serving
women leaders of all ages and backgrounds, we have a few changes in our adult
programs as well.  We expect that you will find our events educational,
inspiring, and will walk away with a true understanding of what WLF is
about…perhaps you’ll become a member, renew your membership, or sign up to
volunteer on a committee. We need your help!

The most exciting news to share with you is the upcoming unveiling of our
rebranding.  Why was this necessary?  To help our organization stay relevant,
welcoming, and fresh! Stay tuned for more news about the official “unveiling.”

As the 2012-13 season gets under way, I am privileged to serve with the very
talented and accomplished women of our Board who truly believe in our
organization and the WLF mission. We have developed a host of fun, inspiring and
educational events that we hope you will enjoy– and our upcoming Jan. 29
inaugural “Women Who Rule!” Awards Luncheon and Scholarship Fundraiser
celebrating three remarkable Coachella Valley women : Helene Galen, Lisa Houston
and Kim Waltrip, is sure to be a huge success and a very special day in our
community to which you are all invited!

WLF is undergoing a historic transformation – and I encourage each and every one
of you to familiarize yourselves with our Web site and learn about all of the
great events planned for this year. This is YOUR organization, so get involved
and  be a leader in your community. The best is yet to come!

Sincerely,

Paula Tapia

WLF President
