Mission:

To provide Coachella Valley high school girls with financial assistance for college, thus helping them to become future leaders.

Goals:

• To award as many Pathways to Success (PTS)-matched scholarships as possible.  WLF has been offered $25,000 in PTS matches for 2012 Scholarships, which is 10 Scholarship awards.
  
• To give young women who have participated in WLF's YWL Program priority in the WLF Scholarship selection process.

There are two scholarship programs available for our Young Women Ambassadors:

1) “Women Leaders Forum & Pathways to Success Scholarship”

This is a need-based scholarship for active participants of WLF’s Young Women Leaders Program.

Scholarship Requirements:

• Permanent residents of the Coachella Valley over the past 3 years
• Attended a California high school for a minimum of 3 years and graduated or completed a GED in the state of California
• Must demonstrate financial need (as identified by academic institutions and FAFSA)
• Apply for federal financial aid using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by the March 2 priority deadline
• Must be pursuing their first bachelor or associates degree at an accredited college, university, or academic institution in the U.S.
• A minimum 2.0 GPA is required and continued full-time enrollment throughout the academic year
• Active participant in ALL Young Women Leader (YWL) sessions (3 total)

Scholarship Application Schedule:

January / February  -

YWL seniors will receive instructions on the WLF Scholarship Application process and asked to:

• Ensure they have completed the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)
• Complete the Pathways to Success online Scholarship Application (www.cvpts.com/scholarships.html)

March  - 

• Applications will be reviewed by Scholarship Committee
• Feedback will be sought from YWL Team Leaders and YWL Mentors
• Candidates will be coordinated with Pathways to Success

WLF Scholarship funds are paid on behalf of each recipient directly to the selected college or university.  WLF Scholarship funds may only be used for the upcoming school year.

Donations to WLF Scholarship Fund are tax deductible and may be made online at any time or added to WLF dues.  To donate online please follow the important steps below:

1. Click on the link: Make Scholarship Donation
2. You will be taken to a donation ticket.  Click Add to Cart.
3. Your Shopping Cart page will appear.  Leave the quantity for the donation ticket at $1.00, you will be able to select a different amount in the next step. Click Checkout.
4. Fill out your information.  At the bottom of the Checkout page there is a Make a Gift area with a drop down menu in which you are able to select the amount you wish to donate to the scholarship.  Please select the amount and click Confirm.
